Wisdom of a 4 year-old

Mom: "I love waking up in the morning and eating pancakes."
Samuel: "Yeah, Mom. Cause that's what pancakes are all about."

....AMEN.

A New Deal

So, my dear Samuel and I stayed up a bit later than Miss Trinity this evening to have a little one-on-one hangout session. We discussed the day's events and tomorrow's activities over fresh salads - Samuel's with "pink" dressing (aka raspberry vinaigrette) + Mom's with "white" (aka blue cheese), largely because we had both used up the "orange" one (roasted red pepper).

We discussed how Samuel had decided he does NOT like getting his tube "popped on"; and that he is very scared to go down there again to have that done. At this point, he wanted to know again why we have to keep going down there "every day" (toddler reality); so I reiterated that we are going to the Children's place every week for the rest of the year so that he can get his special medicine. When he said again how much he was afraid of getting his tube popped on, I pointed out that of course he had a choice, but the only other alternative was getting poked with a needle every week - and the nurses + I had figured he would much rather NOT do that, so they gave him the port instead.

Needless to say, Samuel agreed that a port was definitely a better choice! We talked about what we would do in the morning to make sure I put enough "lotion" (EMLA cream that numbs the skin over the port area) on his port so that he wouldn't feel any stingy pains, just maybe the pushing/pressure feeling. Of course, Samuel made sure that I understood I shouldn't put TOO much on or else it would get all over the place and leak out from under the "paper" (press + seal wrap we put over the cream so that it doesn't rub off - or get all over his t-shirt).

We also agreed that after he gets his tube popped on, he will put one of the big bandages on Mommy's chest, too; and then he can take it off of me all by himself so he can see that it won't hurt me. (We also practiced putting on + taking off bandages this weekend, and I'm believing we're making progress on that traumatic front).

So, the deal is on. Mommy will be his patient, and we'll both be brave together to prove that we can have a great time on our trips to the Children's place and no longer need to be scared of any part of our standard procedure.

THANK YOU for being in agreement with us in prayer about all this! He was so much more calm + relaxed tonight before bed (which, by the way, he declared himself to be ready for + kindly informed me that we could "talk about this some more in the morning" because he was tired of talking - haaaa!). Man, I love him. Too funny.

Thank YOU...

We just wanted to post a special note for all of you who are reading or following our little adventure...

Your prayers are deeply felt, and they are manifesting in so many miracles along the way. We don't doubt one bit that your love + support of Samuel (and all of us) is precisely why we are all doing as well as we are. God has been so good to give us such a wonderful circle of friends + family, and we are beyond grateful to Him - and grateful especially to each of you. We pray that you are being blessed in your own lives, and we are honored to have you in ours.

THANK YOU so very much... have a beautiful, blessed weekend!

"HE" Did It Again!

I love how God works. So the day after posting some awesome faith resources about healing, we got to see God's healing power in action!

Yesterday turned out to be our second ER visit for a low-grade fever. Samuel had been a little bit warm since Monday, a little bit extra tired Wednesday, and finally spiked a slight fever by Wednesday night. Unfortunately, the real fever didn't set in until after the Clinic was closed :( but we praise God that Children's is so close to our home; and we were able to be there within an hour of the first sign of high temperature.

this is the "Im so thrilled to be here" face :{ hah
mask buddies :)
There are no words to describe how happy (and grateful!) we were to have Mawmaw able to drive up and be with us at Children's. Not much better than a Grandma...xo. Such a help to relieve any nerves in the children, and a tremendous help for Mom, too!

story time...

is always a good time

Here's the truly amazing part. Prayer and positive healing confession was made from the first instant on, and we kept speaking nothing but healing + power into Samuel's body - which was made even more effective by the awesome power of agreement among all of us speaking + believing God over Samuel (and there was, and is, most definitely an incredible core of STRONG believers in agreement with us). By the time we reached the ER, the temperature had fallen slightly, and Samuel was feeling better - although he was noticeably nervous about the impending procedure for accessing his port, etc.

By the time we were in our ER room, his temperature had returned to almost normal, and his bloodwork revealed no threats; so after some IV fluid + antibiotics (always given as a precaution) we got to all come back home together!

We rested well, and have had a great day today - lots of eating, drinking, playing, and FORCED rest by Mom (I always get to be the bad guy, haha). We'll take it easy until we see our doctor on Monday, but we're so overwhelmed by the goodness of God that we can receive healing + health into our (and our children's!) bodies simply by KNOWING the Promises in the Word and SPEAKING them in FAITH over any + every situation. What a real joy to just KNOW that our children are healed + healthy, and we can just focus on walking it out... AMEN.

Why What We SAY Is So Important

It is impossible to understand the power of healing through the Word of God without understanding how much power truly rests in the spoken word to begin with. So, I decided to highlight some of the key scriptures that help us realize just how powerful our own words really are for framing our realities.

Proverbs 18:21
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."

Our words and our beliefs not only affect our bodies but our immune systems as well. Our words, and how we speak about our health in general, become either a blessing or a curse to us.

Luke 6:45
"...for out of the abundance of the heart [a man's] mouth speaketh."

In his book, God's Creative Power for Healing, Charles Capp says that "God's Word is infused (engrafted) into you by giving voice to His Word with your own mouth, and this is the language of health to your body" (p7).

Some "building blocks" for this truth:

Job 22:28
"Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways."

Proverbs 18:7
"A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul."

Mark 11:23
"For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."

Proverbs 18:20
"A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled."

Proverbs 21:23
"Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles."

Proverbs 10:11
"The mouth of a righteous [faithful] man is a well of life."

Proverbs 12:6
"...the mouth of the upright shall deliver them."

Proverbs 12:4
"A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth."

Proverbs 12:18
"...the tongue of the wise is health."

Proverbs 13:3
"He that keepth his mouth keepeth his life."

Proverbs 14:3
"...the lips of the wise shall preserve them."

Proverbs 15:4
"A wholesome tongue is a tree of life; but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit."

Proverbs 15:2
"The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright."

Proverbs 16:23
"The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips."

Proverbs 16:24
"Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones."

It's pretty obvious even from just this handful of references that God has an awful lot to say about words and how they affect us - and our health!

What is Healing?

The Hebrew word for "health" in the Bible is "medicine". God's Word is medicine to all our flesh. Exodus 15:26 tells us, "I the Lord am thy Physician". And, the medicine He prescribes is His Word.

I read recently some wise words about how many make the mistake of substituting belief in healing for the actual taking of God's medicine - His Word. It's like saying, "I believe in healing" without ever taking the medicine. The author pointed out, "what good would it do for you to believe in food if you didn't eat it? You would starve." The same goes for God's Healing - without receiving a steady dose of His Word into our Spirit, we miss the healing effects it provides.

Proverbs 4:20-22
"My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh." (KJV)

Important to understand: God's Word is a healing agent, just as natural medicine is a healing agent (or catalyst). In other words, the medicine itself contains the capacity to produce healing. Inherent within God's Word is the capacity, the energy, the ability, and the nature to effect healing in our bodies.

Proverbs 107:20
"He sent His Word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." (KJV)
"He sent out His Word, and it healed, and from their corruptions it freed!" (Fenton)

Proverbs 4:22
"For they [His Words] are life unto those that find them, and health unto all their flesh." (KJV)

Isaiah 55:11
"So shall my Word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." (KJV)

The Word itself contains the power to produce what it says. Just as when God said, "Let there be light," and there was light, healing Scriptures contain within them the capacity to produce healing.

The Key: The key to partaking of the life and healing energy in the Word is feeding on it until it penetrates your Spirit where it deposits that life and energy.

Hebrews 4:12
"For the Word is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit..." (KJV)
